LEVACETAM 500 mg (Levetiracetam) is an anticonvulsant medication used in veterinary practice to manage seizures and epilepsy in dogs and cats. It belongs to the pyrrolidone class of anticonvulsants and works by modulating synaptic neurotransmitter release, reducing abnormal electrical activity in the brain.
Composition: Levetiracetam 500 mg per tablet.
Indications: Idiopathic epilepsy in dogs and cats. Add-on therapy for poorly controlled seizures. Cluster seizures. Reactive seizures secondary to metabolic disorders.
Key Features: Well tolerated with fewer side effects compared to older anticonvulsants. Does not require hepatic metabolism — suitable for patients with liver disease. Can be used as monotherapy or in combination with phenobarbital.
Directions for Use: Administer orally as prescribed by a veterinarian. Dosage is based on body weight and seizure frequency. Do not discontinue abruptly.
Suitable for: Dogs and cats. Prescription required.
